NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for December 17
Duds
Kelly Oubre Jr. (MATCHUP – $6,700 on DK; $6,700 on FD): The price isn’t terrible on FanDuel as it’s right on the salary line. But it’s a tad too high on DraftKings given his recent inconsistencies and the matchup in front of him. The Clippers are going to be a tough out on Tuesday and I don’t like the Suns chances. There is better value elsewhere and better matchups across the board.
Rudy Gobert (vs ORL – $7,900 on DK; $8,600 on FD): Gobert has been serviceable in getting value, but as always when it comes to high salary guys, you need a bit more. This is a tough matchup as the Magic are great against the position. Gobert is always a double double threat but his scoring numbers typically aren’t that big and he’ll have to battle Vucevic on the boards. I actually like Vucevic more from a value perspective.
Brandon Ingram (vs BKN – $8,100 on DK; $8,400 on FD): There should be plenty of offense in this one and that would seem to be a good thing for Ingram. But the Nets are good against the position and there is so value on both teams that is better than Ingram. As you already read, I much prefer Dinwiddie and Holiday in this game as both have the potential to outscore Ingram.
Domantas Sabonis (vs LAL – $8,000 on DK; $8,000 on FD): Sabonis has been down in the last two games, which obviously isn’t a good sign. It’s also not a good sign that he’ll be going up against a tough matchup in the Lakers on Tuesday. He’s a high ceiling player and his salary has dropped, which is the good news. But there are too many red flags for him in this one.
Anthony Davis (at IND – $10,500 on DK; $10,700 on FD): Davis most likely won’t hurt you, but will he end up as the second highest scorer on the night? I have my doubts. It’s a tough matchup against the Pacers and this has been the LeBron show this year. It’s tough to go wrong with Davis but there is better value below him with a high ceiling and better matchup.
