2020 NFL mock draft: Joe Burrow to save the Bengals
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans have a chance to make the playoffs this season, which is an incredible statement considering how lost this team looked early on. Quarterback Marcus Mariota was leading them to another season below .500, before Ryan Tannehill took over and became the quarterback the Miami Dolphins hoped he would be when they took him in the first round years ago.
Tennessee still has work to do in terms of punching their ticket to the playoffs, and they still may be a year away, but they are in much better shape than they were when the season started. They will likely give Tannehill a boatload of money to stay on board as the franchise quarterback, as he has been the perfect player for head coach Mike Vrabel on that side of the ball.
On defense, the Titans still need some help, especially along the defensive line. One player who could fit in nicely is Javon Kinlaw from South Carolina, who has the versatility to play on the outside, or inside at the NFL level. Vrabel was a defensive guy during his playing days, and Kinlaw’s tape will stand out as he preps for this draft.
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded away Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 NFL season, and thanks to that, they will hold multiple first round picks next April. With their first of two first rounders, they should attack the defensive side of the ball, before bringing in a playmaker on offense later in round one.
Rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew has proven he has what it takes to win at the NFL level, and it will be interesting to see if he is the starter in 2020, or highly-paid veteran Nick Foles. Whoever is under center, this team needs some more weapons on the outside, and Tee Higgins from Clemson is one of the better wideouts in this draft class.
Higgins comes from a winning program, can make all the catches, and plays with great passion, something that will endear him to the Jaguars faithful. This is an organization that has a lot of decisions to make next offseason, but they cannot afford to be this stagnant in the passing game moving forward.
