NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for December 22
Duds
Anthony Davis (vs DEN – $10,100 on DK; $10,600 on FD): LeBron is out, which means Davis will be the center of attention for the Lakers. That means more opportunities for him and it’s very possible that he completely dominates this game en route to a triple double or a big scoring/rebounding night. But it’s a tough matchup and Davis hasn’t been great on his own without LeBron. He’ll get numbers, but I don’t think it’ll be the monster outing.
Jamal Murray (at LAL – $6,800 on DK; $6,800 on FD): No LeBron will help the Nuggets as the Lakers have been locked in all season, especially with LeBron patrolling on defense. But the Lakers defensive scheme will continue to trouble Murray, who can be inconsistent. He’s coming off two strong games, which is actually more worrying because of those inconsistencies. The ceiling is high but I’m labeling him as a risk in this game.
Terry Rozier (at BOS – $6,900 on DK; $7,400 on FD): Rozier was a dud in the first meeting against Boston and now he returns to Boston. And that’s probably not going to end well for him. Rozier is coming off some big outings, but much like Murray, he is all over the place in terms of consistency. The Celtics are great against the position and there is better value below Rozier given the matchup in this one.
Kawhi Leonard (at OKC – $8,700 on DK; $8,800 on FD): This is going to be a Paul George game. And it’s possible Kawhi even sits out this game because it’s a back to back. And if that’s the case, it’ll definitely be a George game. With PG returning to OKC, they’ll let him shine a bit and he’ll get the space he needs to operate. Kawhi will take a backseat, which is what he’s done for the majority of this season. Just wait until the playoffs with Kawhi.
