Real Betis host Atletico Madrid at Benito Villamarin Stadium on Sunday as both clubs look to move up the table. Betis are 12th in La Liga, with 23 points in their 17 games. Atletico are fifth with 29 points, one point behind fourth-place Getafe.
Real Betis are unbeaten in their last four games, picking up 10 points. While Betis Betis are in the middle of the table, they have allowed the third-most goals in La Liga. The only teams to allow more goals than the Heliopolitans this season are Espanyol (who are last place) and Mallorca (who are one point above the relegation zone). Manager Rubi will have to help his team improve defensively if they are going to remain in the middle of the table. Upfront, Loren Moron is having a good season, leading Betis with eight goals.
Atletico Madrid have lost only two La Liga games this season. However, eight draws have dropped Diego Simeone’s team out of the top four. Atletico are again the best defensive team in La Liga, allowing only 10 goals. However, Atletico have struggled in the attacking half. Atletico have scored 18 goals this season, the sixth-fewest in La Liga. Alvaro Morata leads the club with six goals this season and will be counted on for goals against Betis. Simeone has to find a secondary scoring option if Atletico are going to finish in the top four. No other player on the roster has scored more than two goals.
