College basketball Week 9: 8 best games of the week
Villanova (9-2) at Marquette (10-2)-Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET on FOX
It’s a Super Saturday in the Big East as Villanova begins their conference schedule with one of the toughest road trips on their schedule against Marquette. The key to this game for the Golden Eagles will be a big showing from Markus Howard, who leads the country in scoring with 26.3 points per game.
Florida State (11-2) at Louisville (11-2)-Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2/ESPNU (TBD)
The Seminoles have overachieved compared to their preseason expectations, and they will look to make another statement with a road win against Louisville. This game is also important to the Cardinals, who get a chance to show their poor showing against Kentucky was a blip on the radar.
Michigan (10-3) at Michigan State (10-3)-Sunday on CBS (Time TBD)
The first edition of the Battle of Michigan should be a good one as Michigan looks to make a statement against their bitter rivals from Michigan State. A big key to this game could be the presence of Cassius Winston, who sat out of the Spartans’ win over Western Michigan with a knee injury.
Mid-Major Game of the Week: San Diego State (15-0) at Utah State (13-2)-Saturday at 10:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network
The Mountain West is back as the league has a legitimate shot to send three teams to the NCAA Tournament. San Diego State enters the week as one of two undefeated teams left in college basketball and they will face a stiff road test against Utah State, which is at its most complete form now that pro prospect Neemias Queta is back from a knee injury.
