DraftKings NBA picks December 29: Fear the Beard
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Point Guards:
Best Bets:
Luka Doncic ($11,400): I wasn’t big on Luka last night, but I should know better, right? I wont make that mistake on a short slate. Luka has played the Lakers twice already and he has owned them with 134.5 DraftKings points in 70 minutes. This is a good defense! Luka should be worth every penny again tonight.
Devonte Graham ($7,900): The poor shooting is still plaguing Graham, so I’m not real high on him for the price. Graham has done an outstanding job of still producing double digit assists and flirting with double digit rebounds. The ceiling is very high if the shots start falling, but Graham hasn’t shot 40% since December 11. That’s a really long dry spell. There’s a lot more risk than a like with this high of a price.
Honorable Mention:
Ja Morant ($6,400): We all know how good the Charlotte backcourt has been offensively, but this is also a good group defensively. So why use Ja? Well, he’s cheap. He’s cheap and he put up 42.75 DraftKings points in just 30 minutes on Charlotte the first time around. Morant has only cleared 40 once since then so I wouldn’t coutn on that, but he could get close to 6x value.
Lonzo Ball ($5,400): Ball rarely goes outside of the scope of what is expected for the price. He did against Houston in the first meeting. Ball went nuts for 45 DraftKings points in that one. He likely wont shoot 13 times this tiem around, but with Russ out, we could see another strong game from Lonzo for the price.
Dark Horses:
Cory Joseph ($4,600): CoJo was mostly ineffective with Fox out for a month earlier this year, but with Fox ailing the last couple of games, Joseph has been much better. He has 55.25 DraftKIngs points while playing 72 minutes. The volume is great for a value play, making Joseph a low-risk proposition if Fox is out again. Chances are he will be.
De’Anthony Melton ($4,000): I’ll leve with you. Melton is going to piss you off. Last night he fouled out in just 13 minutes, but exploded for 29.5 DraftKings points on a Denver team that is top eight in fantasy points allowed to point guards. Figure that one out. Melton doesn’t play a lot, but Memphis makes good use of him while he’s in there. He has only been under 20 DraftKings points three times this month and still broke 18 in two of those.
Tyus Jones ($3,500): Don’t want to play roulette with Melton? I don’t blame you. Jones is still seeing about 20 minutes per game and hasn’t been under 20 DraftKings points in any of the last four games. That’s a great return for the price.
