NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for December 30
Duds
Andre Drummond (at UTA – $9,300 on DK; $9,600 on FD): It’s a tough matchup for Drummond going against Gobert and he hasn’t done well against Gobert in recent meetings. He’s at the highest potential salary of anyone who is guaranteed to play. And I don’t think he ends up as the top scorer on the night. There is simply better value below him.
Jimmy Butler (at WAS – $7,800 on DK; $8,700 on FD): Butler is unlikely to hurt you given the matchup. This is more about Butler fading back while the rest of the team pitches in against a weak matchup. Miami plays as a team and won’t need Butler to be spectacular in this game. Grab the Miami value or Adebayo instead of Butler.
Zach LaVine (vs MIL – $8,300 on DK; $8,100 on FD): LaVine has provided value in most games recently but hasn’t done much more than that. It’s a tough matchup against the Bucks as well. If Giannis doesn’t play, the matchup does get a little bit easier. LaVine has been hot and cold against the Bucks this season. The ceiling is high but I’m wary of him on Monday.
Khris Middleton (at CHI – $8,100 on DK; $7,600 on FD): The Bulls defense has been stout in recent games and they are great against the position. If Giannis doesn’t play, more attention is on Middleton. It also means more opportunities but with the way the Bulls defense has been playing, I actually trust them to do a good job on Middleton. Famous last words.
Devin Booker (at POR – $7,500 on DK; $7,100 on FD): Booker is coming off two good games against two weak opponents. The Blazers can be all over the place, but they are good against the position and typically feast against bad teams. And the Suns remain a bad team. Booker might not hurt you as he remains at a good salary given his role on the team. But I’m not totally sold on him just because he beat up on the Warriors and Kings.
