Philadelphia 76ers: Let it fly, Ben Simmons

The recurring talking point surrounding Ben Simmons is nauseating at this point, but up until recently, he was doing more than enough to drown out the background noise. That hasn’t been the case lately with Simmons in a funk, so it’s time to just cave and start hoisting from long range already.

So far in 2019-20, after a summer spent hyping up a more confident perimeter shot, Simmons has attempted just five 3-pointers in 1,161 minutes spread across 33 games. He’s made two of those five shots, which technically makes him a 40 percent 3-point shooter, but good grief, dude. Just let it fly already.

The Philadelphia 76ers are having a hard enough time incorporating all these new faces, and what was supposed to be a fun season has been tedious and frustrating. The Sixers need to play with more spunk and have a little more fun, but none of that happens until this annoying storyline bites the dust. They’re not all going to go in. They just need to go up enough to make teammates more effective, defenses respect you and pundits shut the hell up.
