Doctor Who’s season premiere Spyfall features both alien invasion and spies. Here’s how to watch Doctor Who season 12, episode 1 live, on TV and online.

The Doctor Who season premiere has finally arrived, so find out how to watch Doctor Who online or live tonight, as the series returns to BBC America for Jodie Whittaker’s second season.

Wednesday’s episode mixes the usual sci-fi adventure with a healthy dose of the spy intrigue that the British specialize in. It’s the first part of a two-part saga called “Spyfall,” where The Doctor and her companions are asked to stop aliens who have a particular taste for the James Bond types of the world.

Why are they fixated on espionage? Is it just because they want some human intelligence? Those questions will hopefully be answered, but more so, how great is it to have Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole back when we haven’t seen Doctor Who in literally a year?

Here’s how BBC America officially describes the episode:

"Intelligence agents around the world are under attack from alien forces. MI6 turns to the only people who can help: The Doctor and friends. As they travel the globe for answers, attacks come from all sides."

The episode is 86 minutes long, so if you’re setting up a DVR, be sure that it’s scheduled to run for 90 minutes and not an hour. You don’t want to miss the end, especially since it will conclude on a cliffhanger.
