2020 NFL Mock Draft: Full first round with playoffs looming
By Brad Weiss
The Buffalo Bills were one of the best teams in the AFC for most of the season, as they got a great second year from quarterback Josh Allen. If Allen continues to grow into the quarterback they hope he will be, this is a bills team that could eventually overtake the New England Patriots as the top team in the AFC East.
Looking at the roster, they are pretty set on the defensive side of the ball, but they could use more weapons on offense. If Allen is going to develop into the kind of passer they need him to be, the Bills have to go out and utilize their first round pick in 2020 on a wide receiver.
One player who is getting a lot of first round buzz, especially after his performance in LSU’s CFP bowl game victory over Oklahoma this past Saturday, is Justin Jefferson. This is a guy who can take the lid off the defense, and with Allen’s strong right arm, he would be a perfect new weapon for him moving forward.
The Minnesota Vikings had a decent season in Year 2 with Kirk Cousins as their quarterback, but there is still room to grow. Cousins still needs to prove that he can win games under the brightest of lights, and he will get a chance to do that now that the Vikings have made it into the playoffs as a Wild Card team.
One thing that has plagued this team all season long has been the offensive line play, and that is where they should focus their first round pick in 2020. One of the more versatile offensive linemen in this draft class is Jedrick Wills Jr. from Alabama, who has the ability to play both guard and tackle at the NFL level.
The bottom line is, the Vikings spent a lot of money on Cousins, so they need to do whatever they can to protect that investment. Running back Dalvin Cook was one of the best backs in all of football this season, and if they can get the passing game where they need it to be, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC for years to come.
