4. Address the cornerback position in free agency or the draft

One player of note that will be hitting free agency this offseason from the Saints defense is cornerback Eli Apple. New Orleans orchestrated a trade with the New York Giants a few years back to get him on their defense. The question is if the Saints do look to bring him back or address the move in the draft or in free agency.

P.J. Williams will also be a free agent, so this position group, as well as the entire secondary, could look different next season. Will the Saints look at home Ohio State guys in the draft, the free-agent market or retain Apple?

Ultimately, the two of the Saints’ last two seasons have ended on plays where their defensive backs didn’t hold their own in coverage. While the Saints are going to become the most dynamic secondary in football, a few micro-adjustments to this position group will go a long way in determining if the Saints will once again be Super Bowl-caliber in 2020.
