2020 NFL Mock Draft: Tua declares, then heads to South Beach
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers head into the Divisional Round as the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC, and if they continue to win, the road to the Super Bowl will run through the Bay Area. The 49ers have been solid all season long, getting productive play from Jimmy Garoppolo, who has proven he is the an incredible winner at the NFL level.
During the 2019 NFL Draft, the 49ers held the No. 2 overall pick, which they used on Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa, who is the favorite to win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award. In 2020, they should once again shift their focus to the defensive side of the ball, adding a ball-hawk cornerback this late in round one.
Paulson Adebo played his college ball at Stanford, so he will not have to go too far to play his pro ball, if in fact he is the team’s pick in round one. Richard Sherman has proven to be one of the better cornerbacks once again in 2020, but he is getting up there in age, and could be the ultimate mentor to Adebo early in his career.
The Baltimore Ravens are the favorites to go all the way this season, thanks to a special year from Lamar Jackson, who is making his first full season as the starter in Charm City. Jackson is likely going to take home the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award this season, as he is not only getting the job done with his arm, but is a dangerous weapon with his legs as well.
Jackson’s biggest supporter all season long has been running back Mark Ingram, who was a perfect addition to this offense this offseason. In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Ravens should look to add more talent to the running back group, bringing in D’Andre Swift from Georgia, who is not only a solid runner, but can be a dangerous weapon in the passing game as well.
So there you have it, our latest 2020 NFL mock draft as we enter the Divisional Round. The bottom of the first round is going to change in the coming weeks, and the players will too, as the deadline is approaching for underclassmen to either declare for the NFL, or head back to college for one more year.
