NFL DFS – FantasyDraft Best Plays – Running Back

Core Plays

Aaron Jones ($14.0k)

Any backfield-by-committee worries are an afterthought now that Jones has handled a total of 48 carries through the Packers’ past two games. Tied for the league lead with16 touchdowns during the regular season, he possesses immense scoring upside against a Seahawks’ D that gave up 18 rushing TDs during the regular season. You can always opt to pivot to Derrick Henry ($15.9k) here instead, and while fading Henry worries me a tad, this slate is simply loaded with offensive studs. You can make the argument that Jones is a better bang for your buck, and choosing the latter gives you that much more roster flexibility.

Mark Ingram ($12.6k)

Ingram has been nursing a calf injury that he sustained back in Week 16 and was sidelined at practice early this week, but there’s hope that he’ll be ready to roll come game-time on Saturday. If he plays, he’s one of the safest options at the running-back spot. Baltimore will undoubtedly lean on their prolific rushing attack as they have all season to scoot past Tennessee, and while the Titans pose a respectable secondary, they’re lacking against the run (surrendering the 10th-most FPPG to RBs). Keep tabs on his injury status throughout the week and don’t hesitate to fire him up if he’s a full-go.

Damien Williams ($11.3k)

Boy, do I love me some Chiefs players this week. That continues with Williams, who just may be my favorite point-per-dollar play out of the whole bunch. Williams came up huge for Kansas City in their last two regular-season games, compiling 52.6 combined fantasy points versus the Bears and Chargers. During that span, he reached pay-dirt three times and is getting ample opportunity in the passing game. Williams was brilliant last season in the playoffs and has emerged as Andy Reid‘s clear lead-back.

Value Plays

Gus Edwards ($10.3k)

If – and only if – Ingram is out, Edwards becomes a superb play as a starter on the best run-game in the NFL facing the Titans’ bottom-third-ranked defense against RBs. Edwards served as the bell-cow in a meaningless Week 17 matchup in which Ingram sat out, racking up 130 yards on the ground. He offers little to nothing as a receiver, as Justice Hill ($8.5k) would handle those duties, but becomes a near must-play in the scenario that Ingram can’t go.

Marshawn Lynch ($9.5k)

Beast Mode hasn’t yet been all that inspiring in his second stint in Seattle (just 2.2 yards per carry), but following their Wild Card win over the Eagles, head coach Pete Carroll said he believes Lynch is ready to handle more of a workload heading into Green Bay this weekend. At 33 years old, it remains to be seen if Lynch still has something left in the tank, but he draws a juicy matchup against a Packers’ squad yielding over 120 rushing yards per game.
