NFL DFS – FantasyDraft Best Plays – D/ST

Core Plays

Green Bay Packers ($5.6k)

Aside from a Week 17 blunder, Green Bay’s defense has played at a high level down the stretch, allowing 15 or fewer points in four of their last five games (three games of 10-plus fantasy points). They’ll be well-rested for this one and get a home matchup against a Seattle team missing both of their top RBs. The Packers’ run-D still leaves much to be desired, but their secondary has ceded just 232.5 passing yards per game and is top-eight in the takeaway department.

Minnesota Vikings ($5.2k)

The 49ers’ biggest offensive strength also happens to be the Vikings’ biggest defensive strength – defending the run. This unit was a DFS darling last weekend and showed-out in route to a huge upset win over the Saints and their high-octane offense, so there’s reason to believe an encore performance could be in-store. Minnesota has scored at least eight fantasy points in each of their past five matchups.

Value Plays

Houston Texans ($4.0k)

If you’re like me and tend to spend the lowest possible amount on a D/ST, there are underlying stats that suggest the Texans can hold their own for DFS purposes. With J.J. Watt back, their pass-rush gets a spark that translated to three sacks last week. The Chiefs have struggled mightily in pass-pro this season, yielding 58 sacks (T-most in the league). Houston might give up 500 yards of total offense, but if they can notch four or five sacks, they can keep your lineup afloat.
