NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 10
Duds
Kawhi Leonard (vs GS – $9,900 on DK; $9,400 on FD): With the Warriors being the Warriors and Kawhi not needing to do much in this game, expect him to play less minutes and sit back a bit. Even when he sits back he’s still good for around value but there are guys with better circumstances who have a higher ceiling on Friday.
Zach LaVine (vs IND – $8,300 on DK; $8,400 on FD): LaVine is on a tear and the Pacers are weak against the position. But expect the Pacers to play with a lot of fire coming off that Miami game. TJ Warren is going to see LaVine as Butler and be our to prove something while the Pacers as a whole will want to respond. This game could be a fantasy slog.
Jimmy Butler (at BKN – $8,000 on DK; $8,200 on FD): This is an easy matchup for the Heat and sometimes Butler just has an efficient night in these easy matchups. And efficiency doesn’t get you far in DFS if he’s not taking the appropriate amount of shots. There’s a chance Butler is enraged from the Pacers incident but that seems more like a Warren issue than Butler.
Deandre Ayton (vs ORL – $7,800 on DK; $8,000 on FD): Ayton is typically around value but this is a tough matchup and with the tear Booker is on, there is less for Ayton to do. He might be around value but given the matchup and circumstances, there’s better value below him with better matchups and a higher ceiling.
Spencer Dinwiddie (vs MIA – $7,400 on DK; $7,200 on FD): Dinwiddie is having a tough time as the Nets struggle through things. And now they get a very good Miami team. Until Dinwiddie can show some type of bounce back and consistency, there’s no reason to trust him at the moment. Maybe if the matchup is better. But this ain’t it.
