NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 11

Duds

Luka Doncic (vs PHI – $ 12,400 on DK; $11,300 on FD): It’s a tough matchup and it’s a back to back for the Mavericks. As always when it comes to the top salary guy, when they are listed as a dud, it rarely means they won’t deliver. It means I’m skeptical they’ll end up as a top 3 scorer on the night. And while Luka will get his numbers, I’m not sure he’ll finish over Giannis or Jokic.

Damian Lillard (vs MIL – $8,700 on DK; $8,500 on FD): It’s Lillard against a tough matchup and I’m always worried about Lillard against a tough matchup. The ceiling will always be high with Lillard but the inconsistency has been an issue this season. Maybe you feel comfortable with Lillard, but definitely stay away from McCollum.

Kemba Walker (vs NO – $7,600 on DK; $7,000 on FD): Kemba and others on the Celtics have shown some inconsistencies as of late. The Pelicans are on a back to back but they’ve turned things around recently. Kemba has a similar ceiling to someone like Brown or Hayward. One of them will probably hit but Tatum is the only one I trust and the others I’m not willing to play darts with.

Derrick Rose (vs CHI – $7,300 on DK; $6,800 on FD): Rose has been playing fairly well but he’s been hit and miss against the Bulls this season. The Bulls defense has been very good as of late and they are excellent against the position. The ceiling is high for Rose and the Pistons need any scoring they can get. But there better value below him on Saturday.

Tristan Thompson (at DEN – $7,000 on DK; $6,600 on FD): Thompson’s price has raised because of his big game and that’s a clear sign to stay away. He was playing around value or below prior to the outing against the Pistons. And the Nuggets are obviously not the Pistons. Don’t buy into him or the Cavaliers after one game. They are who we think they are.
