Buffalo Bills. Brian Daboll. player. Scouting Report. 4. 16. Pick Analysis. Offensive Coordinator

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is certainly a guy who will get serious looks at being an NFL head coach as early as next year. Daboll has made the most of mediocre-at-best offensive talent in Orchard Park in his time on Sean McDermott’s staff. Even more impressive, he’s been key in helping develop Josh Allen as a franchise quarterback. It’s working out pretty well.

Like with Greg Roman of the Baltimore Ravens, Daboll is a creative offensive mind who isn’t afraid to pound the rock with conviction. He’s great at design all sorts of plays out of multiple formations. Not only does he stem from the Andy Reid coaching tree by way of McDermott, but he is also a disciple of the Nick Saban coaching tree at the University of Alabama.

This would be a hire that would be perhaps a year too early for the Texans to make. It’s not like any casual football fans are super excited about hiring a Bills’ offensive coach when it has been the defense that has propelled this long moribund franchise back into NFL relevancy under the McDermott regime. That being said, you have to like Daboll’s trajectory at this point.

Given how many impressive coaching trees he is a part of, it would not be shocking if Daboll was able to put together a solid coaching staff right away in Houston. The team might regress a tad next year under Daboll, as he’ll be getting his coaching legs under him. That being said, his team won’t get out-coached and out-executed as the Texans have under O’Brien for years.
