Pick Analysis. Offensive Coordinator. Eric Bieniemy. 1. player. Scouting Report. Kansas City Chiefs. 124

This one seems so obvious for so many reasons. The best head-coaching candidate to replace O’Brien in Houston has to be Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. This is the Andy Reid disciple responsible for the most savage beatdown the Texans just endured. He didn’t get a head-coaching opportunity this year, but he totally will next year if he’s not with Houston.

Bieniemy offers an interesting perspective as an offensive mind. Unlike many Reid disciples, Bieniemy is not a former quarterback. He is a running back and one who played in the NFL, as well as having an unforgettable career playing for Bill McCartney’s Colorado Buffaloes in the early 1990s.

The Chiefs can move the sticks on just about any defense on any given Sunday. They can do it in multiple ways, as they have a transcendent quarterback in Patrick Mahomes. Though Mahomes is the most talented signal-caller in the league, Houston has a fantastic one in Watson, a quarterback any well-respected offensive mind would love to partner with if given the chance.

Bieniemy’s ability to build a staff might be brought up to question, but as long as the Chiefs keep winning, he might have plenty of time to give the McNairs a few quality options he’d be looking at in the coordinator position. If he can find a good partner at general manager, then this would be a home-run hire. This feels like the next great branch of the Reid coaching tree. It’s time to harvest.
