3. Luis Rojas

Rojas is plenty familiar to Mets’ players and brass, as a manager somewhere in their system for all but one season from 2007-2018. He joined the major league staff as a quality control coach in 2019, then interviewed for the manager post during the offseason before being in line to be back in his prior role under Beltran.

As the son of Felipe Alou and the brother of Moises Alou, Rojas has some pedigree. And at 38 years old, he’s a fresh face who can surely easily reach younger players and presumably embrace the use of analytics. It’s safe to say many of the Mets’ young players played for him at some point in their minor league careers, so as much as player input is a consideration Rojas may get that push.

Prior big league experience has not been a differentiating factor in managerial searches around MLB in recent years, as skippers are regularly seen as pawns for a front office philosophy, so that won’t be held against Rojas. With an experienced coaching staff assembled around him in the early years, the Mets could find a long-term guy here.
