NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds on DraftKings and FanDuel January 16

Scrubs

RJ Barrett (vs PHO – $5,900 on DK; $5,900 on FD): I’m torn between Barrett and Payton. I like Barrett’s ceiling a bit more but Payton has the Suns revenge game factor. There should be plenty of offense in this game. Or at least bad enough defense. You can pair both guys and probably feel pretty comfortable. I’m just a fan of Barrett.

Jahlil Okafor (vs UTA – $5,100 on DK; $3,500 on FD): As long as Okafor starts, he’s a safe pick. But if he doesn’t start, then there’s no reason to take the risk since the minutes are not guaranteed. He’s proven to be a productive player when he does get the minutes although the matchup against Gobert is pretty tough.

Damion Lee (vs DEN – $5,000 on DK; $4,900 on FD): Lee is consistent if nothing else. And he’s shown a high ceiling. It’s a tough matchup against the Nuggets but the Warriors do play hard. And new contract Lee should be playing with some more confidence and security. He’s a safe pick with some guaranteed value on a slow night.

Jerami Grant (at GS – $4,800 on DK; $4,00 on FD): Grant remains at a great salary given his role on the Nuggets and he has a great matchup. He can do a bit of everything and on a slow night with value, his salary and circumstances is at a spot where it should not hurt you and the ceiling is relatively high.
