NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds on DraftKings and FanDuel January 16
Duds
Nikola Jokic (at GS – $9,600 on DK; $9,400 on FD): The Warriors are solid against the position and even though Jokic has turned things around, I like the guys around him instead of him on this night. He’s a double double threat but his numbers might not be as high as the guards do a little more in this game.
Deandre Ayton (at NY – $7,700 on DK; $7,400 on FD): The Knicks are good against the position and Ayton is too inconsistent and not assertive enough of most nights. It’s the Booker show in Phoenix right now and Ayton is slightly reduced because of it. He might not hurt you on this night but I’m not in love with his ceiling.
D’Angelo Russell (vs DEN – $7,500 on DK; $7,400 on FD): Russell is the top scorer in the Warriors and that always has its benefits. But it’s a tough matchup against the Nuggets and their defense can be tough when they are locked in. Whether or not they are locked in is a question. I find there to be more value in the guys below Russell.
Donovan Mitchell (at NO – $7,400 on DK; $6,600 on FD): The Pelicans have tightened up their defense lately and Mitchell has been an inconsistent option. The Utah offense just isn’t that high powered and without Conley it leaves Mitchell to do a lot of heavy lifting. His ceiling is high because of it but he struggles with consistency. And there’s better value below or guaranteed value above.
