13. Thaddeus Young — F, Chicago Bulls — Contract of $12,900,000

Signed just this offseason in Chicago, Young has reportedly already become unhappy with his situation there. He is a talented veteran stuck behind developing youths, and that’s a difficult position for players who still have plenty of game left. Young fits that bill. He has always been one of the most unheralded players in the league. He’s bounced around low-impact franchises, but he’s always been effective in mid-sized roles.

Young is quietly one of the better defenders in the league, capable of switching onto almost anyone. He has a history of solid success — not shutting down of course, but doing well — against players like LeBron James. He forces plenty of turnovers. On the offensive end, he’s not a brilliant shooter, but he’s good enough to hurt defenses who abandon him. He has an off-beat floater game and is a surprisingly good finisher. He has one of the lowest turnover rates in the league. Young offers plenty of positives without detracting in any way. That’s what a consummate veteran should provide. He would fit onto most teams and provide valuable back-up play at the power forward position. He would be a deadly addition, especially, to a team that needs depth, such as the Los Angeles Lakers.
