What happens to DeVante Parker if the Dolphins draft a quarterback?

This will be predicated on training camp and how NFL ready he looks to the coaching staff. If he appears to need some time, then it may be a good idea for him to sit behind a veteran presence like Fitzpatrick for a year or so. It may end up affecting Parker’s production next season depending on what the Dolphins decide to do.

Should Miami elect to make their future rookie quarterback sit behind a veteran presence like Fitzpatrick next year, then Parker’s fantasy value shouldn’t be negatively affected at all. He is the team’s number one receiving option by far at this time and will likely be the case again unless they make a big splash in free agency. He did just fine with Fitzpatrick this year, so it shouldn’t be any different in 2020. At least I hope.

If the Dolphins choose to go the other route and throw their young quarterback into the fire come Week 1, then there may be some regression in Parker’s production. Unless the new kid exceeds expectations right off the bat, there are going to be some serious growing pains involved. Parker will feel the effects and his production will likely take a bit of a dip from what he was able to do this year.

Hopefully, the regression won’t be too severe so he can still be a serviceable receiving fantasy option for next season. I have a hunch Parker will do just fine regardless of what his team decides to do about their signal-caller situation. He’s definitely a strong WR-2 option with a lot of upside if he has an efficient man under center. If the quarterback seems a little questionable at the start, then he possesses some intriguing flex value.

The percentage of fantasy rosters consisting of DeVante Parker’s name should increase this summer. He finally proved what he is capable of even in a poorly run offense during the 2019 campaign. Miami will likely improve slightly at the very least which bodes well for him and anyone interested in their drafts.
