Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 22 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s daily NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Sacramento at Detroit, Oklahoma City at Orlando, Philadelphia at Toronto
7:30 p.m. ET: LA Clippers at Atlana, Memphis at Boston, Washington at Miami, LA Lakers at New York
8 p.m. ET: Minnesota at Chicago, Denver at Houston
9 p.m. ET: Indiana at Phoenix
9:30 p.m. ET: San Antonio at New Orleans
10 p.m. ET: Utah at Golden State

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

LeBron James (at NY – $10,800 on DK; $11,200 on FD): Throw out the game against the Celtics. The Lakers will be much better in this game, largely because it’s the Knicks. And LeBron has a habit of showing up big at MSG and when his team is coming off a loss. A triple-double is certainly in play in this game and even if he doesn’t get you that, he will get you guaranteed value and then some.

Russell Westbrook (vs DEN – $9,800 on DK; $9,900 on FD): Westbrook has been the star in Houston over the last couple of weeks and he remains at a better salary than Harden at the moment, offering much more value. Things will start to even out at some point, but going by what we’ve seen lately, Westbrook is the guy to take with his overall scoring and ability to chip in with assists and rebounds.

Zach LaVine (vs MIN – $9,000 on DK; $8,800 on FD): LaVine is consistent if nothing else with his scoring and now he has a great matchup against the Timberwolves. Points won’t be an issue for him in this game and he should do enough in other areas to boost his overall value. He’s a guy that’s not going to hurt you and he has a high ceiling given the matchup in front of him. And maybe he still holds a grudge for the trade?

Nikola Vucevic (vs OKC – $8,300 on DK; $8,300 on FD): Vucevic is consistent and if the Thunder don’t have Adams or Noel, Vucevic should be able to dominate in the paint. The Rockets couldn’t take advantage of it due to Capela’s offensive limitations. Vucevic doesn’t have that issue. He’s a double double if nothing else in this matchup, but expect much more.

Lonzo Ball (vs SA – $6,800 on DK; $6,900 on FD): Lonzo has been playing very well thought out this season and he always seems to play well against the Spurs. The return of Zion is going to change a lot of things for the Pelicans, but Lonzo will continue to have the ball in his hands as the primary playmaker and his salary is lower than Holiday and Ingram, so he won’t hurt you as much if he does take a step back as far as numbers go. He won’t hurt you on this night.
