NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds on DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 22

Scrubs

Lou Williams (at ATL – $7,300 on DK; $6,300 on FD): Williams can be a tad inconsistent but this is a great matchup for him as the Hawks don’t exactly offer much in terms of defense. Lou should be able to pick them apart with his playmaking and scoring ability. Expect the offense to really flow for the Clippers in this matchup and there is good value across the team, but Lou has the second highest ceiling.

Kendrick Nunn (vs WAS – $6,100 on DK; $5,400 on FD): You can go with Nunn or Schroder as both have around the same ceiling on Wednesday. I prefer Nunn simply because of the matchup. Schroder faces the Magic, who have a much better overall defense than the Wizards. Nunn won’t lack for opportunities and he should be in for a strong scoring night given the opposition in front of him.

Michael Porter (at HOU – $6,600 on DK; $5,300 on FD): Porter continues to be on a tear and there are no signs of him slowing down as he gets more comfortable and confident with each passing game. And have you seen the Rockets defense as of late? There’s always hope that they turn it around because they’re a good team, but they’re in a rough patch right now with a tough schedule. MPJ can hurt them in multiple ways.

Marvin Bagley (at DET – $6,500 on DK; $5,100 on FD): Bagley is a fairly consistent option who is at a good price and always gets the minutes and opportunities. He’s also going up against a Pistons squad that simply isn’t very good. He’s a double-double threat and a nice stabilizer with a high ceiling on a night with a lot action.

Zion Williamson (vs SA – $5,000 on DK; $4,500 on FD): The price is low on Zion for his debut. It probably won’t be low for too long. I don’t know what to expect from Zion in this game but I know how he looked in preseason and how good he is. He’s worth taking the risk on at this price on FD. There’s a good chance he’s not going to hurt you and also a good chance that he plays well above value.
