7. Robert Covington

The Minnesota Timberwolves are going nowhere fast this season, and Robert Covington‘s elite defense makes him an attractive asset for plenty of teams around the league, especially on such a team-friendly contract. It’s no surprise he’s been mentioned in plenty of trade rumors to this point.

Though his 3-point shooting has slipped to 34.8 percent this year, he’s still taking 6.2 of them per game and just shot 37.8 percent from distance last year. That makes him the kind of 3-and-D wing that plenty of teams will keep an eye on approaching the trade deadline.

The question is whether the Wolves give up on their playoff pursuit (they’re currently five games out of the 8-seed at 15-28) and ship off the type of player they need around Karl-Anthony Towns, or decide to keep him and hope the rest of their young wings grow into their necessary roles quickly. If they do make RoCo available, however, there could be a bidding war for a two-way wing who’s still in his prime and could really make a difference once he’s not wasting away in Minnesota anymore.
