5. Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond will almost certainly opt out of his $28.8 million player option to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and it’s pretty obvious the Detroit Pistons will be rightfully wary about committing another five-year max to a guy who is great, but will probably never lead them to playoff contention as “the guy.”

To that end, it feels like it’s time for a parting of the ways between Drummond and Detroit. It’s not particularly feasible for a team to make a move for that contract and then still want to re-sign him to max money this summer, but there’s no question the big man could do with a change of scenery. The Pistons are only three games out of a playoff spot, but this is still one of the most miserable basketball products in the NBA right now.

Drummond is a walking double-double and one of the finest rebounders in NBA history. His impending status as a free agent limits the likelihood he’s actually dealt, but with Blake Griffin on the mend and this entire, underwhelming Pistons roster on the trade block, there’s no reason to stay together for the kids anymore. It’s officially time to divorce.
