2020 Senior Bowl: Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts and 5 players to watch
By John Buhler
There is no one else worthy of the top spot here. Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert is the most important player taking part in the Senior Bowl and it’s not close. Herbert won the Pac-12 and the Rose Bowl during his senior season in Eugene. He won the academic Heisman and is projected to be a first round pick in the NFL Draft.
And that is precisely why he’s the most important player in this game. If Herbert plays as he did in his senior season at Oregon, he will not fall past the Carolina Panthers picking at No. 7. Should he dominate at the Senior Bowl, Herbert could be going No. 5 to the Miami Dolphins, No. 6 to the Los Angeles Chargers, or perhaps even higher?
The Detroit Lions, the other team coaching at the Senior Bowl, own the No. 3 pick. They might look to replace Matthew Stafford or at least have a succession plan in place. Herbert could be a fit in Motown. Ultimately, a great Senior Bowl out of Hebert ensures he’ll be a bonafide top-tier pick.
