2. Some savvy veterans

A few weeks ago it looked like the Pelicans would clearly be selling veteran talent at the trade deadline. However, a surprising hot streak and the return of Zion Williamson have changed the calculus and may be encouraging them to push for the playoffs. However, this deal would let them acquire a young piece for the future while staying as competitive as possible this season. Turner and Lamb are both younger and offer a bit more versatility than Favors and Redick.

For the Pacers, the specialization of Favors and Redick may be the upside. Redick is still one of the most dangerous shooters in the league and his ability to get free off movement will help create space in lineups with Favors and Sabonis playing together. Favors hasn’t been particularly effective this season but he can help with his interior defense and rebounding. In addition, they get to try out rookie Nickeil Alexander-Walker as the long-term answer as a third guard with Brogdon and Oladipo.
