NBA Trade Deadline 2020: 5 Myles Turner trades that could help the Pacers
By Ian Levy
1. The best of both worlds
Dewayne Dedmon is nowhere near as effective as Turner but he does similar things — protect the rim and space the floor on offense, he’s also on a cheaper deal and reportedly very eager to get out of Sacramento. In exchange for the downgrade at center, Indiana lands Bogdan Bogdanovic a young(er) and versatile shooter and creator who the Kings may not want to pay in restricted free agency this summer. Dedmon is not as athletic as Turner and so the two-big look may be a little less clean with him next to Sabonis but the Pacers smaller lineups could potentially be even stronger with T.J. Warren sliding up to the 4 and Bogdanovic, Oladipo and Brogdon playing together on the wing.
This deal would probably require additional moves, sending out players like T.J. McConnell and Doug McDermott for expiring deals, making sure that Indiana has room to re-sign Bogdanovic this summer. But even with some depth sacrificed, this is about as rosy a scenario as I can imagine in a Turner trade — keeping the Pacers in the thick of the Eastern Conference this year as well as building blocks for the future.
