NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds on DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 26
Duds
Damian Lillard (vs IND – $10,400 on DK; $9,700 on FD): It’s tough to doubt Lillard with the run he is on right now. But it’s a tough defense and McCollum is back in the lineup, so naturally he’s going to have less opportunities and responsibilities. Lillard’s ceiling remains as high as anyone, but Kawhi and Trae offer more value on this night in my estimation.
Hassan Whiteside (vs IND – $8,300 on DK; $9,300 on FD): And if you’re not going to stay away from Lillard, this definitely stay away from Whiteside. His consistency is a much bigger problem and the Pacers are great against the position. Like Lillard, his ceiling is high. Unlike Lillard, I trust him less.
Lou Williams (at ORL – $7,400 on DK; $6,100 on FD): Lou has struggled a bit in recent games and this is a tough matchup. He’s probably not going to hurt you because he’s a reliable scorer who gets his assists as well. But Kawhi is taking over without George and Lou is falling back just a tad.
Ricky Rubio (at MEM – $6,500 on DK; $5,700 on FD): Rubio simply hasn’t delivered in recent games and while he can always turn it around, there is simply no reason to trust him at the moment. It’s a very good matchup so maybe you’re willing to take the risk. But the price is too high for a guy who simply isn’t getting it done at the moment.
Zion Williamson (vs BOS – $6,200 on DK; $5,700 on FD): I hope you got Zion in his debut because the price is only going up from here. The two issues I have with Zion in this game is that he’s still on a limited rotation and while he can put up numbers in a hurry, it’s tough to put up numbers in limited minutes. Second, Boston is his toughest matchup. And he struggled more against Denver than he did against San Antonio. This is mainly about salary more than potential.
