DraftKings NBA picks January 27: Spend up front
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA centers:
Best Bets:
Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,300): Towns finally had one of those big games with 64.5 DraftKings points against the Thunder over the weekend. The Kings are a little thin up front, and fairly weak without Holmes up there. Towns missed the first game against the Kings, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he breaks 60 again tonight.
Andre Drummond ($9,600): Drummond has just abused the poor Cavs this year. In the three meetings, Drummond racked up 182.5 DraftKings points. If the lip is fine, which it looks like it is, Drummond could be in for another 60 DraftKings points again tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Nikola Vucevic ($8,600): I’m not all that big on Bam here, especially if the ankle is still bugging him. Vucevic put up 47.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting against the Heat. Bam was nowhere near that. I prefer one of the top two centers, but Vucevic is a solid running mate to pair them with instead of paying up for both.
Clint Capela ($8,500): This price is a touch frightening, but Capela is really the only star caliber player on the court for Houston tonight. This is going to go one of two ways: Either Capela takes over and goes for 70 DraftKings points or the guards try to be Russ and Harden and get blown out and Capela goes for 25. I don’t see an in-between here. UPDATE: Now Capela is likely out. Isaiah Hartington is looking GREAT right about now!
Dark Horses:
Luke Kornet ($4,400): Kornet is the starter in name only. Even with all of the injuries up front, Kornet still struggled to play half the game. It looks more and more like Kornet isn’t a great fit on this team, but he’ll play because he has to. He is still a massive risk though. Kornet has just 18.25 DraftKings points in 43 minutes over the last two games.
Mike Muscala ($4,000): I don’t trust Adams at all. If Noel is able to return, I’ll have to move off of Muscala. He was terrible trying to defend on Saturday, but Muscala was solid enough from a fantasy perspective. If he somehow winds up starting or being the main backup, Muscala is worth a look.
