Los Angeles Clippers

Sending out: Jerome Robinson (CHI), Terance Mann (GSW), Patrick Patterson (CHI)

Bringing in: Avery Bradley (LAL), Noah Vonleh (MIN)

The Clippers have had their rough patches this season but there’s still every reason to think they can establish themselves as an inner-circle contender before the end of the season. There are no obvious weaknesses to address in their core rotation, they can adjust to almost any matchup you’d imagine coming at them in the playoffs. The wild card is health — the top six players in their rotation have already missed a combined 64 games halfway through the season.

If there is a trade for the Clippers to make it should probably be for deep depth, the kind of players you hope you don’t need but are glad you have if things go wrong. Right now, those spots are filled by Mann, Robinson and Patterson who suffer from a inexperience and/or ineffectiveness. This trade replaces them with Bradley — a shaky shooter but dogged defender and experienced guard — and Vonleh — an athletic rebounder, finisher and capable defender. It doesn’t win the Clippers a championship but it might keep them from losing one.
