Brooklyn Nets

Sending out: Garrett Temple (POR)

Bringing in: Mike Scott (PHI), 2022 second-round pick (ATL)

The Nets are in a holding pattern until Kevin Durant returns from his Achilles injury, trying to stay competitive, get a look at some of their younger players and keep anything from blowing up their plans until they can get Durant and Irving on the court together. They appear to have a discontented locker room and Irving has already made comments about needing personnel changes — as such it’s hard to imagine that there isn’t a lot of roster turnover this summer.

This deal doesn’t do much for Brooklyn. Temple is, in theory, slightly more useful than Scott. But the Nets get a frontcourt shooter at a reasonable price, even if it costs them the option of declining Temple’s club option for next year. For taking on that guaranteed salary, they get a future second-round pick from the Hawks.
