NBA Trade Deadline 2020: The 30-team mega-deal that solves nothing and makes everyone mad

Chicago Bulls
Sending out: Kris Dunn (MIN), Denzel Valentine (DAL), Thaddeus Young (MIA)
Bringing in: Mario Hezonja (POR), Jerome Robinson (LAC), Patrick Patterson (LAC), Quinn Cook (LAL), Trevor Ariza (POR), Brooklyn’s 2020 first-round pick (ATL)
You, like me, we’re probably amazed to find out that the Bulls’ roster this season was not nearly as good as they thought. Zach LaVine has taken a legit step forward, Lauri Markkanen has rebounded from early-season struggles, Wendell Carter Jr. is a baller (even if he’s not hitting 3s) and Coby White and Tomas Satoransky are legit fun. And yet, a team whose talent would seem to be mostly on the offensive side of the ball is still near the bottom of the league in offensive efficiency.
This trade package doesn’t really address that offensive shortcoming but it turns the few useful but non-essential assets into an extra first-round pick this year and some cap space (Ariza’s is the biggest returning contract and it’s only partially guaranteed for next season). In addition, Jerome Robinson hasn’t been able to find any room in the Clippers rotation but he did 18.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, shooting over 40 percent on 3s, in 24 games with their G League affiliate last year. He’s probably not a long-term rotation piece but he at least has some upside.
