Top 20 Patrick Mahomes highlights of NFL career
6. Mahomes shows off in the snow
If there’s one thing that makes it tough to pass the football, it’s snowy weather. The precipitation makes it harder to grip the football, the wind wreaks havoc on the ball in flight and receivers have a tough time maintaining their traction. The Chiefs got a snow game against Denver in Week 13, and it clearly didn’t bother Mahomes.
Mahomes and the Chiefs were set up with a 1st-and-10 at the Denver 41 early in the game, and the Chiefs dialed up a deep pass to Hill. Despite the adverse weather, Mahomes dropped back and hit Hill in stride for an easy touchdown, making it look like the game was being played in a dome instead of on a cold fall day with snow coming down around him.
5. Mahomes hits Mecole Hardman for a game-changing bomb in Foxboro
One of the most highly anticipated games of the 2019 season was the AFC Championship rematch between the Chiefs and New England Patriots. The Pats jumped out to an early 7-3 lead and were threatening to get the ball back, with Kansas City staring at a 2nd-and-25 at the New England 48 early in the second quarter.
Mahomes was harassed on the play, but he still managed to connect with Hardman at the 15, where Hardman made a man miss and raced into the end zone for a touchdown. This play was a huge momentum-changer in the contest, with Mahomes turning what could have been a drive-crushing sack into a touchdown that put the Chiefs ahead and providing a huge confidence booster to Kansas City.
