DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:

Best Bets:

D’Angelo Russell ($8,500): Russell is still the only driving force for the Warriors offense. The difference here is that he finally has a good matchup. It’s been a while! I’m not saying Russell will break the slate, but I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t clear 50 with ease. Russell should be well worth the price here.

Donovan Mitchell ($7,000): There are going to be people that swear off Mitchell after his horrible performance against the Nuggets on Thursday. I considered it, but Mitchell needs just 35 DraftKings points to hit value. He scored 35 actual points the first time against Portland. Mitchell has only been under 35 twice in the last eight games. I’ll take my chances against the suspect Portland defense. Mitchell is way too cheap.

Honorable Mention:

Collin Sexton ($6,700): Sexton had the best month of his young career in January. Can he keep it going into February? This is a solid matchup for Sexton and the floor right now looks like high 20’s. I’m still a little nervous about playing him, but Sexton seems to be rounding into a solid pro.

Tim Hardaway Jr. ($5,900): There are few more aggravating players in DFS than THJ. Last night he had 13.5 DraftKings points at the end of the first quarter. He finished the game with 25.75. That’s quite a disappointment after the fast start. The minutes and shots are there and the price is very tempting. Will he step up?

Jordan Clarkson ($5,500): Clarkson’s price shot up $1,400 after he broke the slate on Thursday. Should we pay for his ceiling game? It’s tempting because the price still isn’t all that high. I would like to see Utah run both Mitchell and Clarkson on the court for extended periods of time. Mitchell isn’t going to be that much of a dog both nights, so Thursday will remain the outlier. However, Clarkson has still hit value at this price twice in the last five games. I may use him once just in case, but I do think the Clarkson we saw at the end of the game was more typical of what we should expect.

Dark Horses:

Seth Curry ($5,000): There are a lot of minutes that are split between Brunson, Wright, Curry, and now Broekhoff. It’s a really tough situation for us DFS players. Curry is probably the best shooter of the four and this team needs offense with Luka out. Not that Barea can’t score, but he is more valuable as a distributor. I expect Curry to maintain a good role here, but using any of the rest of them, most at higher prices, is a massive risk that I wont take.

Patty Mills ($4,100): It’s hard to trust any Spurs guard right now. Mills is the only one that hits value with any consistency. He doesn’t have the upside of White or Murray, but the floor is much higher. That probably leaves Mills more attractive in cash games, but if I’m pressed for cash in a GPP, I have no issues using him there either.
