Will they keep pick 31?

The 49ers own the 31st selection in the draft, their only pick of the opening two days.

San Francisco’s second and third-round picks were used on trades to acquire Dee Ford and Sanders. The Niners do not have a lot of needs, but there are enough question-marks that trading out of the first to gain extra draft capital would be a prudent move.

Should one of the better prospects fall in the class fall to 31, then the 49ers would be forced to consider standing pat and using the selection.

It will be a question of quality versus quantity. Is there a prospect the 49ers value highly enough that they do not want to risk leaving him on the board for the second day? Or is their focus on getting value and adding a larger number of prospects?

That internal debate should be the dominant one in the 49ers’ front office in 2020.
