2020 NFL Draft: Cincinnati Bengals 7-round mock
By Conor Dorney
When you finish 2-14, it’s no secret that you need help all over the field. One area in particular that the Bengals struggled with in 2019 was getting to the quarterback. Cincinnati posted 31 sacks on the season, good for 26th in the NFL. Desperate for playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, one player who could pique their interest is Michigan’s Joshua Uche.
Uche may not look like your prototypical NFL edge rusher from a size perspective, but there’s no denying he has first-round talent. Uche uses his remarkable athleticism to wreak havoc in opposing backfields. He possesses freakish bend and hip flexibility and proved at the Senior Bowl that he has the required athleticism to mirror tight ends in coverage.
His size makes it a bit difficult to project how he fits in schematically at the NFL level, but good things happen when he’s on the field. There’s no doubt the Bengals would welcome his play-making ability. If the need arises, the Bengals could also package this pick to sneak back into the first round for a player like Houston’s Josh Jones or their preferred wide receiver.
