4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bruce Arians did nice work resurrecting Carson Palmer late in the quarterback’s career when the two were in Arizona, and the Buccaneers’ head coach’s overall history with quarterbacks is noteworthy. Arians is surely done pulling out whatever hair he has left after one season watching Jameis Winston throw bunches of interceptions, and the franchise should be ready to move on to other options.

Tampa Bay is another team that could aim higher than someone like Dalton in its search for a new quarterback, with Tom Brady pretty much a pie in the sky scenario (as fascinating and as much of a sneaky great fit as it would be) and Philip Rivers a more likely rumored option if it can be worked out. What there is to doubt is this: The Buccaneers are in a win-now window that’s being overlooked, with Arians being an older coach who probably won’t even be having a five-year run.

The Buccaneers have one of the top wide receiver duos in the league in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and a high-upside tight end in O.J. Howard. They also have the ability to add pieces via free agency if they want to, with over $79.8 million in cap space right now (fourth-most in the league, via Over The Cap). Dalton may just be asked to take care of the ball better than Winston (not a tough bargain), and keep the proverbial “fast car” of what could be a very good offense on the road.
