NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for February 12
Duds
John Collins (at CLE – $9,100 on DK; $7,800 on FD): Collins is a fairly consistent option and this is a good matchup, but there’s better value below Collins is Middleton and Randle. This has less to do with what Collins can do and more to do with the guys below him providing more overall value.
Hassan Whiteside (at MEM – $8,400 on DK; $8,800 on FD): It’s a back to back for the Blazers and even though the Grizzlies are simply mediocre against the position, Whiteside will have to content with Valanciunas on both ends of the court. He rarely lacks for numbers but a guy like Booker is available for the same salary and is a much better option.
Kristaps Porzingis (vs SAC – $8,200 on DK; $8,400 on FD): The Kings are very good against the position and the return of Luka is going to hurt Porzingis. Those two things have me concerned about the value of Porzingis. He has a high ceiling but there are some red flags that you have to be wary of.
Rudy Gobert (vs MIA – $8,000 on DK; $7,800 on FD): Gobert is fairly consistent but his ceiling isn’t all that high in this matchup and that’s a big concern with a guy at this price. You can take him and feel fairly confident that you’re going to get at least value but you have to hope that other players hit in a big way.
Eric Bledsoe (at IND – $7,700 on DK; $6,700 on FD): Bledsoe will certainly have more opportunities with Giannis out and he’s been playing very well as of late. But there’s something about Indiana that gives him a lot of trouble. And because of his history with Indiana, I can’t help but to be a little bit concerned.
