NBA Fanduel – Centers

Top Tier: Joel Embiid versus Brooklyn Nets ($9,600)

Joel Embiid and who he is as a player has been questioned a lot this season but it shows why. He has hit some slumps while battling some injuries like previous seasons. Embiid put together a couple of nice games before slumping against the Warriors with 66.9 and 41.8 fantasy points. He’s averaging 45.2 points per game while averaging 1.48 per minute. He also holds a usage rate of 32% while averaging 30 minutes per game.

Now Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers get to face the Brooklyn Nets who slack versus the center position. The Nets are currently allowing opposing centers to average 22 points, 17 rebounds, and three assist per game. A monstrous double double. As long as Embiid is ready to go, he may be able to make this Philadelphia fan base fall in love with him once again.

Mid Tier: Marquese Chriss versus Houston Rockets ($5,900)

For $5,900, Marquese Chriss is a slight risk to play at the center position tonight but does have some upside versus the Houston Rockets. If you’re paying up for guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo or James Harden or even Russell Westbrook, Chriss may be the go to center then. He’s averaging just nine points, six rebounds, and two assist on the season but put together a nice three game stretch before the All Star break. He was able to put up 47.3, 35.8, and 42.9 fantasy points. With a usage rating of 19% while averaging 1.3 fantasy points per minute.

Now this is a Houston Rockets team that can defense the center position better then other positions but they still give up some points. They currently allow opposing centers to average 21 points, 15 rebounds, and four assist per game. The bright side for Chriss and the Warriors is that the Rockets only produce about two blocks and barely one steal per game against the center position. At $5,900, we could find a low owned Marquese Chriss that is able to return value.

Low Tier: Dewayne Dedmon versus Miami Heat ($4,900)

Another big man who was able to finish the first half strong is Dewayne Dedmon who strung together three 30+ fantasy points games together. Dedmon has had his ups and downs so far this season but is averaging a usage rate of 18% while averaging just 15.3 fantasy points per game. He is projected to record 27.30 fantasy points with a ceiling of 47.80 but that depends more on this Miami defense.

The Miami Heat can stop a big man from scoring but they give up more rebounds then needed which is where Dedmon may be able to succeed. They currently allow opposing centers to average 21 points, 14 rebounds, and just two assist per game. While there isn’t too much to pay down for with the center position, Dedmon gives some release on salary to pay up else where tonight.

Other Options: Jonas Valanciunas ($7,600), Brook Lopez ($5,800), John Henson ($3,800)
