Duds

Hassan Whiteside (vs NO – $9,200 on DK; $8,500 on FD): Whiteside is consistent but with Lillard out, some of those easy baskets will be taken away. The Pelicans are good against the position and though he’s unlikely to hurt you, there isn’t much in terms of upside in this one. If you want guaranteed value, he’s a solid pick. If you want more, look elsewhere.

D’Angelo Russell (vs BOS – $8,600 on DK; $8,600 on FD): No Towns means Russell will be left to his own devices. That is probably a good thing as he’ll get plenty of shots. But it’s a tough matchup against the Celtics and his history against them is spotty at best. There are better and more guaranteed options below him.

Devin Booker (at TOR – $7,900 on DK; $8,300 on FD): I usually love post-break Booker as he comes out and tries to set every scoring record under the sun. But something is a bit different about Booker this season and I’m not feeling this matchup against the Raptors. The ceiling is high but the guarantee is lower than usual when it comes to Booker and I’m wary at best.

LaMarcus Aldridge (at UTA – $7,100 on DK; $7,300 on FD): Aldridge was playing very well before the break but his history against the Jazz isn’t great and they are excellent against the position. Aldridge can be inconsistent and when he’s not making his tough shots, he’s not always contributing elsewhere. DeRozan is the safer option of the two on Friday.

Ja Morant (at LAL – $7,000 on DK; $6,700 on FD): It’s a back to back for Grizzlies and while I expect them to come out hot as they try to make the playoff push, LeBron will also have the Lakers locked in. The Lakers aren’t good against the position but I worry about the fatigue in this game for Morant, which is why I found better value below him in the OKC guards.
