NBA Fanduel: Top targets for February 21st – Rise for King James?
By Shaun Evans
NBA Fanduel – Power Forward
Top Tier: Anthony Davis versus Memphis Grizzlies ($10,600)
If we could pair LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a lineup, why not? It may not be the most optimal but we know what these two athletes can do. Anthony Davis is currently averaging 1.47 fantasy points per minute while holding a usage rating of 29%. In the past four games, Davis hasn’t hit below 45 fantasy points and has only done twice in his previous ten games. He also has a high ceiling of 85.5 fantasy points in tonight’s match up.
Now Memphis can put up some fight versus teams but we know exactly what this Lakers team is capable of. The Grizzlies are currently allowing opposing power forwards to average 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists per game. We can expect the questionable tag to disappear before lock for this Lakers, Grizzlies game.
Mid Tier: Kristaps Porzingis versus Orlando Magic ($8,900)
The move to Dallas for Kristaps Porzingis has been working out so far this season and when the time calls, Porzingis steps up. They have a good match up versus the Orlando Magic who are giving up a double double to opposing power forwards. They are currently allowing them to average 22 points, 13 rebounds, and four assist per game.
On the offensive side of things, Porzingis has put together three strong showings in his past five games to end the first half of the season. He was able to put up 58.4, 43.5, and 58.1 fantasy points. He is averaging 1.23 fantasy points per minute while holding a usage rate of 26% on the season so far also. Not only is Porzingis at a good price for tonight’s slate but has a ceiling of 56.3 fantasy points.
Low Tier: Serge Ibaka versus Phoenix Suns ($6,600)
Now this isn’t that small of a salary saver for the low tier position but Serge Ibaka is still in a great spot and can exceed his value tonight. He is currently projected to record 40.7 fantasy points tonight while he averages just 30 per game. Ibaka holds a usage rating of 24% while averaging 16 points with eight rebounds and a lonely assist per game.
Now this Phoenix Suns defense does give up a double double to opposing forwards. The pace shouldn’t matter too much in this game as both play around the same with 105 possessions. If Anthony Davis or even Kristap Porzingis are guys you don’t want to pay up for was you’re hoping to build around LeBron James and Luka Doncic, Serge Ibaka may be a helpful player with those builds.
Other Options: Zion Williamson ($7,500), Daniel Theis ($5,000), Naz Reid ($4,200)
