NBA Fanduel: Top targets for February 21st – Rise for King James?
By Shaun Evans
NBA Fanduel – Center
Top Tier: Hassan Whiteside versus New Orleans Pelicans ($8,500)
Hassan Whiteside has gone back and fourth with his productivity but is hoping to help get the Trailblazers to the playoffs in this second half of the season. He finished the first half with three decent games with 44.4, 39.3, and 32.2 fantasy points. He currently averages 1.38 fantasy points per minute with a usage rate of 19%. He gets to face a young Pelicans defense that gives up a good amount of rebounds to the center position.
This young Pelicans team is currently allowing opposing centers to average 22 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists per game. Also like I mention above with Carmelo Anthony, Pelicans do play at a quicker pace which means Portland will need to keep up. That could either hurt or help Hassan Whiteside with his good price tag of $8,500.
Mid Tier: Steven Adams versus Denver Nuggets ($6,000)
Now Steven Adams isn’t projected to exceed his value by that much but he does have a ceiling that could make any DFS player want to risk some money on him as it sits at 52.9 points. He currently holds a usage rating of 17% while averaging 1.1 fantasy points per minute. He is also almost averaging a nice double double with 11 points and nine rebounds per game. Adams has also put together anice back to back performance of exceeding his value.
Now the Denver Nuggets can play some good defense but they still allow centers to average double doubles with 23 points and 14 rebounds. The downside of these two teams though is that they both play at a slow pace so if we’re looking for some explosiveness, this game may not be it.
Low Tier: Dwight Howard versus Memphis Grizzlies ($4,600)
Who knows which center to roll with when it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers but lets shoot the dice with Dwight Howard. He is currently projected to score 27.2 fantasy points tonight but has a ceiling of 42 fantasy points. He is also holding a usage rate of 14% while averaging 22 fantasy points per game and 1.11 fantasy points per minute.
While we are also attacking the Memphis Grizzlies at both forward positions, Memphis should be attacked at the center position also. They are currently allowing opposing centers to average 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists per game. This could go any way though as the Lakers roll with the hotter hand between the two centers.
Other Options: Rudy Gobert ($8,200), Myles Turner ($5,700), Enes Kanter ($4,100)
