2020 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders 7-round mock
By Randy Gurzi
With the 111th pick in this mock draft, the Raiders add some more help in the secondary by adding Notre Dame safety Alohi Gilman, who will help them as they look to remake their safety corps. Last season, they landed Johnathan Abram in the first round of the draft and he showed signs of being legit. Unfortunately, it was only one game in which he got to show off his skills as he was injured against the Denver Broncos after making five tackles in his debut.
While Abram will be returning from a shoulder injury, the Raiders are set to lose Karl Joseph who is entering free agency. That helps someone like Gilman who could find himself on the field a lot as a rookie despite being a mid-round pick.
A former Navy safety, Gilman transferred to Notre Dame and had 168 tackles and three picks in his two seasons with the Irish. He needs to work on his coverage skills but there’s a lot to like in his game making him worth the pick here.
The Raiders’ final pick in this 2020 NFL Draft comes in the seventh round and they use it to add some help on the edge. Las Vegas has talent here with Clelin Ferrell, Arden Key, and Benson Mayowa on the roster but the depth isn’t ideal.
Kendall Coleman out of Syracuse is nothing more than a player they look to get some depth with. He has flashed his skill set for the Orange but he’s overshadowed by Alton Robinson. It’s a stab in the dark but that’s really what most seventh-round picks are.
