Chicago Bears – Sign Teddy Bridgewater

The Bears do not technically need a quarterback, but they unquestionably need competition for Mitchell Trubisky after his dreadful third season in league.

Bridgewater is said to be drawing heavy interest and the Bears should be one of the teams in the hunt for his services.

After he went 5-0 in place of Drew Brees for the New Orleans Saints last season, doing a solid if unspectacular job of managing Sean Payton’s offense, Bears head coach Matt Nagy can afford to have confidence Bridgewater could do the same in his attack.

Having had a first-hand look at Bridgewater last season in the Saints’ win in Chicago, the Bears do not need to have too many reservations about him operating in cold weather.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace said, per ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson, that Trubisky will remain the starter for 2020. Even if that is the case, the Bears cannot afford to go into the season with an alternative of Chase Daniel’s standard.

By signing Bridgewater, the Bears can give Trubisky genuine competition and ensure they have a capable backup waiting in the wings should he again fail to deliver.
