4. Philadelphia Eagles

Carson Wentz has proven himself to be a winner and successful NFL quarterback. However, the durability concerns surrounding him are real. The Eagles are one franchise that knows the importance of a capable backup quarterback.

Mariota is a nice fit for the Philadelphia offense, which often utilizes Wentz’s athleticism to make plays. He would also have the opportunity to work with an innovative play caller like Doug Pederson.

Obviously in this scenario Mariota won’t  have the opportunity to compete for a starting job. However, Wentz’s injury history means there is a solid chance Mariota sees action at some point during the year.

The Eagles need to make the backup quarterback position a priority. They can’t afford to completely rely on the health of Mariota. This is a talented team with Super Bowl aspirations.

Philadelphia isn’t going to be a player for free agent quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater, who is likely looking for a starting job. Mariota fits because he’s looking to rebuild his value and hopefully audition for a starting job next year.

Ultimately it will come down to money and whether or not Mariota finds a better opportunity elsewhere. He might have a chance to win a starting job elsewhere in the league.
