Clare Crawley was announced as the next Bachelorette on Monday morning. Here’s why we should all be very excited.

If you’re a fan of love, you were probably ecstatic to hear the Bachelorette season 16 announcement this morning on Good Morning America. ABC has been listening to your complaints over the last two relatively younger seasons and they’ve gone with a bit of an unexpected choice: Clare Crawley!

For the first time since Becca Kufrin’s Bachelorette season, Chris Harrison won’t (in good conscience) be able to say this is the most dramatic season yet. Crawley will be entering her Bachelorette experience as a seasoned vet.

Crawley is a four-time Bachelor Nation alumni, first appearing on Juan Pablo’s controversial season of The Bachelor, followed by Bachelor in Paradise seasons 1 and 2 and Bachelor Winter Games.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about Clare Crawley is that at 38 years old, she’s presumably through all of the dumb, unnecessary drama in her life. The kind of drama that has dominated most of the last two Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons.

Crawley knows how this game works. She’s very well-liked in the Bachelor community, funny, and most importantly, she knows what she’s looking for. Clare even flat-out tweeted (jokingly) that if chosen, she’d be the first Bachelorette to eliminate most of the competition on the first night.

While the Bachelorette production team likely won’t let her do this, it’s safe to assume she’s going into her upcoming season locked and loaded. Crawley was hand-picked by ABC over popular choices from the last two seasons including Tayshia Adams, Tia Booth or any of the contestants from Peter’s season, the result of which is looking bleak at the moment.

Bachelor Nation should be excited about this choice. The majority of the complaints in the last two seasons have been directly tied to the maturity of the Bachelor/ette or the contestants involved in the show. Clare’s season should directly address that.

Clare was introduced to Bachelor fans on season 18 of The Bachelor. This is widely regarded as a very bad season, with Juan Pablo Galavis holding the title as the most hated Bachelor of all time. Crawley was the runner up to Nikki Ferrel, however, Galavis did not propose and third place contestant Andi Dorfman became the next Bachelorette.

Fans were excited about Crawley as the announced Bachelorette, and most of the reaction on Twitter was overly positive. We should be in for a great season.

Finally, for those of you who may not know enough about Crawley to be excited, here’s a highlight that should tell you all you need to know. We can’t wait for your Bachelorette season, Clare!
