1. Miami Marlins

Back in mid-December Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported the Marlins had met with Puig, as they kicked the tires on multiple free-agent outfielders. They did eventually sign Corey Dickerson, and he is slated to be no less than the left-handed side of a left field platoon. But there is still a possible void to fill in Miami’s outfield.

The Marlins are expected to be pretty bad again this year, so they need something to spur some excitement and sell tickets. Puig, with his personality and buck-the-convention playing style, not to mention his Cuban heritage, might be the guy to bring some attention and buzz for local fans (for better, or at times worse).

Marlins’ manager Don Mattingly was the Los Angeles Dodgers’ manager from 2011-2015, which included the early part of Puig’s career. So on that basis of familiarity there might be a fit there. Miami could also certainly use any sort of offensive boost, as well as someone who can play one or both of the corner outfield positions.
